7 month old healthy male puppy starting to pee during: Greeting people, in stores, while playing.?
Asked: 7 month old healthy male puppy starting to pee during: Greeting people, in stores, while playing.?
Hey there, this is my first time asking a question on yahoo!
I am having an issue with my male puppy urinating. For the past few days (3-4) he has not been able to hold his urine. He has always peed when I get off of work, I have come to accept that because he is just so overwhelmed to see me. That is ok, I can live with that. But he peed at the vets today, he peed at the pet store, and he peed on me while we were playing tonight. I did (regretfully) scold him tonight, I got down to his level held out my finger and said, "no pee, bad dog" and tapped his snout with my finger. I do not scold as a rule, I believe in positive training and positive re-enforcement, but I was frustrated. Is this a phase? Is this something I will have to continue to try to work on and will go away, or does this sound like something that will be something I will have to deal with for a while? How can I go about dealing with this??
I will give some insight on my puppy:
-His name is Tucker.
-He is a Lab X Goldendoodle
-He will be 7 months next week.
-Neutered
-At the vet today he weighed 66.6lbs (yes I joked and said I knew I had a devil dog lol)
-He has had a bladder infection that was treated and urine tested to show it's gone. I had another suspicion at the beginning of this month of another UTI and took him in and they tested his urine which turned out clear, but the tip of his penis was red and sore so the ruled it to be a food sensitivity. Most likely with red dyes.
-To me he has no big issues, except the Lab in him makes him extremely hard to control when he sees other people and dogs. He just goes nuts about making new friends, he loves everyone and thinks everyone is his friend and loves him lol. He is just very excited to meet people and can be overbearing like wapping them with his tail, licking, and pawing at them. He doesn't bite and I trained him not to jump (although sometimes he cannot help it lol)
I had to take him to the vet today because of (1) a sore on the inner side of his right dew claw. I was cleaning it with a warm wash cloth, and ozonol. It just continued to be sore to touch and was looking worse and worse. He would not let me touch it today. They looked and said it was slightly infected. (2) and he was neutered last month and on his scar there is a swollen red mass that is painful to touch. It is about the size of a large pea. The vet said that it was a blister that formed from the stitches absorbing fluid and it will burst, or dry up by itself, and that it is nothing to worry about. The vet gave me panolog ointment for his sore toe and I can put it on his blister.
He piddled at the vet today and I apologised over and over. They said not to worry, that most dogs do this at the vet. (He never has until he was neutered and the past two times I took him he has)
He is my little boy and I hate to have any issues with him. And the thing is he knows what he is doing is wrong. Is there anything I can do to help with this peeing problem.
I do ignore him when I come home and I tell others not to get excited when meeting/seeing him. I get him to calm down and then initiate hellos.
I know I was VERY long winded (lol) but I have looked up questions and answers here and I see that the more detail the better.
Any ideas will be awesome, Thanks so much for reading my question and thanks in advance for some ideas

Take him the vet tell the vet you told us. Don't look for useless answers here without a degree in veterinarian and a proper examination of the pet.
puppies just do that.. don't worry, i'm sure he'll grow out of it
we took my puppy to celebrate his birthday at this cool dog place and he peed a lot at a year old
they just get excited… they'll learn more control as they get older
whenever he pees just take him outside
