Depends on if your dog got bit, and it differs. If you have ever watched homeward bound, they say two weeks, but again that was just a movie. Sometimes it take a week and I have even seen it in a wolf and they didnt show signs until right around a year later. But if your animal has been infected, get it to the vet pronto. Find out for sure and make sure that it doesnt attack you or you will contract the sickness. My boyfriends wolf german shepherd hybrid caught rabies back in 2001 and it was horrible. He killed my rottweiler and my pure bred german shepherd.. Ate them whole, not to mention he killed three of my horses and six of my cows that were prized winners. We put him down after we knew it was something besides just his temper.

It depends on the animal bitten, where on the body the bite occurred (The closer the bite wound is to the head, the shorter the incubation period) and some other circumstances.
The incubation period can be anywhere from a few days or weeks to months. In rare cases it's actually taken a year or more for symptoms to show.
Once symptoms begin to show, death is immanent and happens within a few days.
There have been a handful of people who have survived rabies (due to pure luck and experimental treatments that rarely work), only one person has survived WITHOUT major brain damage.
