Asked: Is there such thing as a mini golden retriever?
My dog is a year old. And my mom says she won't get any bigger. She is a golden retriever but the size of a medium (almost small) dog. She also wasn't the smallest of all the puppies when I got her. Should I be worried or is it that her genes make her small?

No, there's no such thing.If your dog's under-sized (did you actually read the breed standard?), she's likely from a backyard breeder who breeds pet quality dogs who don't fit the standard.Nothing to worry about as far as her size goes.

she may just be small..dogs are not made with cookie cutters.Some individuals may be smaller or bigger than what the breed is suppossed to be.. it happens sometimes.
Goldens are not reallyhuge dogs..AKC standard states that females are 21 1/2 – 22 1/2 inches at the shoulder..thats under 2 feet at the shoulder.

he could just be a petite golden. I have a siberian husky and everyone tells me she looks small for her breed. she is 50 lbs which is average for a female, but she does look smaller then most huskies haha

at a year old your dog should be full grown, but i guess it just depends on the dog, nothing wrong with a small golden
