My Miniature Dachshund won’t play and is very lethargic?

Asked: My Miniature Dachshund won’t play and is very lethargic?

Three months ago my husband brought me home a miniature dachshund. She came from a family he was renting a room off of.This family used to live on a farm but now moved to a small trailer and had 4 of the dogs and had previously tried to give my dog away but she was returned due to her enormous fear of men (she would urinate and cower whenever men were around). She showed the same characteristics when we brought her home(spending about her first week here hiding under my bed) as well as being extremely lethargic and not intrested in playing with neither humans nor toys.I right away started working on socializing her and and changed her food from the bottom of the line food she was getting to holistic food. The socializing has help alot with her fear of men and strangers and the pittling and cowering have stopped, however she still remains extremly lethargic she sleeps all day with the exception of going outside to do her business.I think i have bought every toy out there and nothing peaks her intrest not even if a person or other dogs initiates the play.Any ideas on how to pep her up or is this normal for Dachshunds?

If she is whimpering really LOUD, and she is in pain then if you can't bare to see her in pain then put her down I hate to be the one to say it…
