Asked: GSD question please. Our Pup is quite huge, nearly 8 months now.?

We have a large older German Shepherd(about 12) and a Pup too. This is about the pup…we measured him today and he is already 28 inches to his shoulder and taller than the other which is big! They are pets, not working dogs or show dogs, but trained, walked in forests and mix well with people and other dogs.
Is this a good age to neuter him? We had the other one neutered at 7 months, but I've since read that doing it too young isn't good? We've always had German Shepherds for over 30 years but this Pup is like a pony…not that we mind as he's wonderful but he was diagnosed with that fast growing syndrome, which the Vet's assured us will sort itself out in time without problems or medication.
Perhaps someone can give me good advice as I don't want to give him the 'chop' too young if it's detrimental to him or his natural growth, he is in fantastic condition. He's not trying to hump anything and everything…(except one of his favourite cuddly toys ) he just loves life.

Hi everyone my brother got a German Shepard out of the pound during the week he had no vaccinations he was 14 months old only in the pound 3 days they kept him separate from other dogs.. During the weekend he stopped eating my brother thought it was just because of the change I went out to check on him and he's dead he hasn't been sick or crying or had the runs nothing just looked sad what could have caused this he was such a beautiful dog.. Shame on his previous owners for not getting him vaccinated..

There's a bird like a kestrel that's been coming into the garden each day. When we feed the garden birds is it liable to attack people or small Dogs. Will it be wild? Or will it belong to someone?

Asked: I feel like my dog is human at times..?

No, I am not crazy haha. My dog is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, he's a 1 year old. I'm 14 and feel like he's my best friend. I don't have many friends and am homeschooled, my mom works 12 hour shifts and dad is out of the picture..so most of the time it's just me and Romeo. I love him, he's always here for me. When I'm crying, he's there to let me cry into his fur. When I'm happy, we play his favorite game (tug of war/fetch) together. I always look out for him. One time, he got out when I took him on vacation across the country (we go everywhere together) I couldn't find him for 10 minutes and had a panic attack, I was bawling. I found him in the front yard -__- He was sniffing around. This was almost scarier than not finding him, though. Because where I was staying is right on a busy road and the other sides are corn fields that were 6 ft tall. I called him and he came, happy as ever, to me which is weird because he never does, he doesn't know "come" and the tricks he does know…he doesn't always care to do. Also, I was walking him in an unfamiliar area and this huge GSD hopped the fence and tried to attack him (my dog is only 14 lbs)! I scooped him up, kicked at the dog, and screamed all the way running to my house (still carrying Romeo). I was scared for my dog. He is SO important to me. He helped me through depression, Social Anxiety Disorder, Anorexia, and my parents divorce. And today I was looking at him laying on the couch watching his TV shows (aha yeah, we have Animal Planet on for him all the time..I swear he loves it!) and he looked over at me..looking in his big brown eyes..he didn't just feel like a dog. He felt like another human, somebody I've known my whole life..Anybody else know what I'm talking about? Once again, I am 100% sane haha. No rude or plain creepy comments.. thanks!!

Okay, this really annoys me sometimes. I just have to ask why everyone saysthis, LIKE I KNOW WHY BUT…WHY?

If someone says "Are there any good German shepherd breeders in _______" the other people be all like "Get from a shelter, breeders are worthless"

I never said what annoying me, but here it goes; That is honestly the persons choice. If they want a sheltie dog or breeder dog, I honestly prefer breeder but saving a dogs life would be nice. But where I live it is no-policy killing shelters. It annoys me when people give other people **** for wanting a dog from a breeder. They want from breeders, maybe buying a watch dog(Rotty, Doberman, GSD, etc), show dog, attack dog, etc.

It is everyones choice. QUESTION: WHY DOES EVERYONE GIVE EACHOTHER **** FOR WANTING A BREEDER DOG?

Asked: Where can I find German Shepherd puppies?

I know this is a long shot, but is there anywhere or anyone in Florida where free or cheap German Shepherds are? I really want to try to get my dad a boy German Shepherd, we've never had one and he's always talked about how they're so pretty and that we'd have a guard dog, etc. And well I have three other sisters, plus my mom, and our GIRL dog. So my dad is stuck with 6 girls in the house! I just really want to see him happy and try to get him a good deal on a German Shepherd. Btw, he doesn't know I'm trying to look for one. So if there's anyone, close to Port St John or Orlando, or not too far from there please let me know! Thanks!

Just curious, looking up clubs in the area.We have a schutzhund "village" type of facility, but it looks like they do trials/police dogs etc

we also have a kennel (specifically GSD) that offers protection and other type of specialized training…..a guy that works on Murphy from time to time runs that one

so question is….is Schutzhund breed specific? as in you cant really get mutts into the activities, can ya?lol

other question for people that participate in different activities…for a youngish dog (3yrs) who's not overly active, but is in good shape/healthy…what would you recommend, type of activity???

As I live in Ireland the sea is right in front of me and my GSD pup of 10mths loves to go down the shore for a swim. Whenever the weather is good I take him down for a swim and to catch ball,he loves it. A few people have told me that saltwater is good for a dogs coat and others have said to rinse him off after as its not good for them. Which is true as up until now I havent rinsed him off just let him dry and he has been fine,no scratching or anything…

My older brother just got out of college and somehow got a job as a gym teacher at the local elementary school (don't ask me how). Well anyway, he loves German Shepherds, so he plans on getting one this summer. He showed me this GSD breeder, but I'm not so sure about them. What are your thoughts? He says he doesn't want a show breeder because he doesn't want a "frog dog", and he doesn't want a working breeder because he wants a less high-strung dog. So do you have any breeders you should suggest if this breeder is bad? In the NY, PA, or NJ area is preferred. Sorry,I don't know too much about GSD breeders, I've never dealt with them before.

I live in Chicago and im 10 minutes away from downtown. I'm 23 and my husband is 24 years old, we are both active, we like to take walks everyday. We have a house together, it's a 1 story house that's fairly a decent size for a bigger and smaller dog and it has a nice size yard. My husband wants a big dog like a GSD and I wouldnt mind one but it's a little big for my taste..No dogs smaller than a Bassett hound!. Also we don't live downtown! We live close to it! Im a nurse so my schedule can vary but usually I work 12 hour shifts for 3 days then im done for the week. And my husband is usually home 3 mostly but if he's lucky 4 times a week because he's a professional hockey player and it all depends on his schedule, but he's home during the summer mostly everyday. Also my brother can come and play and let the dog out if I need him too, and I can always come home in my 1 hour break to take the dog out and play with him.

they are two males, the collie is ten years old the shepard 4 years. when i go out to them the collie starts growling then the shepard attacks him, i have tried feeding the shepard first since he is now the dominent male but the collie (who i had first) wont give up leadership, splitting them up is no good as the collie escapes from most enclosures during firework season, the shepard is fine until the collie starts, my head is wrecked as comming home from work i dread feeding them now or even going out to spend time with them as the collie is sufferring sometimes severe attacks i have tried throwing water over them when they start but end up having to lift the shepard off the collie, i dont think the collie has to many years left and would like him to have a bit of peace in his last years, the two are fine when on there own…
