there is a VERY sweet pitbull next door and she gets along very well with my dog she's a mastiff. Well I feel bad for the dog next door
because they don't feed her. when she comes in our yard which is alot I feed her and give her water. She loves me she won't leave my side and she hates it when I take her back next door. My mom can sometimes hear a dog crying next door like it's in pain and I know it's the pit because their other dogs have escaped I've seen it. You can see her bones and it worries me. So should I call the shelter? I really want to take her in but I don't know if they'll let me since the previous owners are next door. So what should I do and how should I do it?

I have a 5 year old rat terrier mix breed. SHe is feisty I will say that but she hasn't hurt anyone or any pets. Lately, like within the past two months she has been randomly growling at me. Like when I talk to my cat (which is in a babyish voice) she will just look at us and growl from where ever she is. When I first wake up in the morning and I am coming down the stairs, she always sits on the chair, she will just watch me come down the stairs and growl. She stops when I tell her "No". But she will do it every time. She has never attempted to bite me or anyone else. She has on occasion snipped in people's direction, but as a warning, she could've bit them and didn't. She also has recently started growling when I tell her "no" if she is barking or whining at noises outside. Once it scared me, I told her to stop, then she turned and like death stared me and started growling pretty intensely. Still she has never attempted to attack or even bite. She has been to the vet regularly, they say everything is fine. Why is she doing this? Is this just what she does and I am reading into it too much? Or should I be worried?

After much thought, research and debating, I have decided to join with a registered Chihuahua breeder and breed my two registered Chihuahuas. They have great conformation (tested for several genetic disorders) and amazing temperaments. I am not breeding for profit. They will be having one or two litters at most, because we feel they have something to offer the breed.

Now for my question (and no, this isn't the only place I am looking into for information). What is a good pre-breeding and post-pregnancy diet that I should give to my 4.5 lb female Chihuahua? I am aware of risks such as low blood-sugar and low calcium levels during pregnancy,so I am looking for a diet that will ensure that there are as few risks to the health of my dogs as possible.

I am open to any suggestions. I am looking for helpful and positive answers only, and will be compiling all the info I have gathered through several sources to find the best diet possible. I have also been in touch with my vet, mentor breeder, and many online references. Thank you.

I had an older dog named Zeus I got him at 4 months and instantly became attached, in love and I have had strong love for him and still do after he died at the age of 2 which was yesterday. I got my puppy when my other dog was still alive. I got my puppy named Rocky at the age of 2 months and he is currently 6 months old right now. I became attached with my puppy when we first got him but I wasn't like I was when I got my other dog. I never realized how much I never really loved him until my other dog passed away. When I'm playing or walking with the puppy I instantly think of playing with my other dog. My puppy is always biting my pant legs, annoying me and he just isn't like my other dog who would play but he was more laid back. I feel like now I'm comparing the puppy to my other dog and I don't want that. Am I going to be like this everytime I get a new dog? Why am I thinking like this? Was it a bad idea getting a puppy?

I am rather stressed about my mental health as I just found out my "habits" are actually signs of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Social Anxiety, I tend to chew my nails almost all the time, and the skin on the inside of my mouth, I also play these weird…mind games I guess, like if I'm walking down a path and their are 3 different types of concrete, I HAVE to step on all 3 at the same time, I just do it without thinking about it, I also tend to do like a color matching thing where if like there are 3 different colors on my screen I will spend ages trying to get my mouse on all of them I try to find the point where they all meet up or something like that, I also do this thing where I will think about every possible scenario that could happen, so I imagine that I get home, could my dog be dead, could my dog have killed my guinea pigs ect ect this could go on all day, than I stress myself out So much that I make myself sick or I freak out and can't think about anything else but that until I get home, I also have Extreme fear of being around people, and how people see me and pretty much anything to do with people, if somebody is friendly toward me and tries to talk to me, I return it by being nice to them, but I say as little as possible and basically wait for it to be over, because people always seem to hate me and there fordon't have anything to do with them, I won't eat in front of people, so I don't eat at school I hate people looking at or near me as it makes me stress about what they could be looking at and makes me feel anxious, and I hate being talked to by the teacher in front of my class as it has the same effect, so if I need to talk to any of my teachers I find them in my lunch break, I have no friends, but I do have lots of animals, I mean lots, like 12 guinea pigs, 1 horse, 2 dogs, 2 budgies and 2 finches, and they are my life and all I think about apart from my Dad, I live with my Dad because my Mum told me I ruined her relationship with her boyfriend and kicked me out than ran away interstate with my little brothers, I used to have friends (like 5 or 6) but it turns out they actually hated me and said cruel things about me behind my back, so I just don't bother with friends any more, although I still had problems talking to people even when I had friends, like one time in 8th grade, I made a few friends, so Instead of sitting at the back by myself and never talking to anybody, I sat in the middle of the class and a girl I'd never spoken to said "I like your hair ribbons" and I just freaked out and muttered "thanks" I was scared because nobody ever talks to me, I'm in grade 11 now, so that was a long time ago, but even so I still freak out when I think about it, anyways sorry to go on so much, basically if I do have any mental issue, How and where do I get help? I have a 19 year old dog (Trixie), and while she does have a few health issues that she is on medication for, she is otherwise living well.

I have never been so close to a pet as I am with Trixie. I adopted her when she was 10 from the humane society, and she's truly become my soul mate. I even had her name tattooed on my wrist 5 years ago.

When I talk about Trixie to someone and mention her age, nearly every person suggests in one way or another that the end is near for her. While I find this quite rude, I'm not so dense that I don't realize she isn't a Spring chicken.
Some people actually ask me what I'm doing to prepare for her demise. I'm confused and bewildered by this question. Should a person actually prepare for an elderly person or pet's death? If so, what is the proper protocol?

Asked: Why is my my dog making a gagging/retching noise?

I have a 1 and 1/2 year old Yorkshire terrier and recently over the last week he's been making this coughing noise then in the last three days he's been making a gagging/retching type noise. Even his stomach is making an upset gurgling sound. He's just not himself, sleeping all the time and cuddling up to people when usually he is very active. He's also been eating grass all the time

I know it's not kennel cough cause he was recently given the kennel cough injection 3 weeks ago along with a clear bill of health from the vet at his annual check up. ( a lot of people have told me that you only get the kennel cough injection if your going to be boarding your dog.)but i get it as a precaution since i have four dogs that live in close quarters with each other. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations He's also eating and drinking normally. I'm not too worried, cause i'm going to wait another day or so to see if the symptoms clear up and if they don't take him straight to the vet.

Just wondering if anyone knows what this might be and if there is any home remedies that might make the symptoms easier.

I really don't want any smart aleck answers or people telling me to surrender my dogs to a charity because i asked this question and haven't run to the vet for what might very well be a cold or an upset stomach.

I am 25, 5'5'', average weight, bmi normal, and eat fairly healthy besides too much chocolate lol! I don't drink or smoke either. I don't nearly get enough exercise but I've been suffering from depression and anxiety since the beginning of the year. I also lost my beloved dog last Saturday after 13 years, and that was a great stress for me.

I've been suffering from a viral/virus infection on/off since late January, runny/blocked nose, coughing, sore throat.

I took a nasal spray over 2 weeks ago, and it seemed to clear it up, i had the occassional cough now and then.

This week, I've had a crackling in the back of my throat, not very much only now and then.

Then today when I walked my dog I got a cough and spat up some phlegm and some blood, I went into panic mode, and got back in the car.

I had a cramp in my leg and now today I am having panic attacks because I'm thinking it's a blood clot that's turned into a PULMONARY EMBOLISM, so I made an appointment with the doctor, I see him tomorrow.

I'm so scared, I'm literally crying with fear. I coughed again in the bathroom and was nothing but clear plegm. No cramp in leg today, but been walking more past couple days, but I am so scared now I am dying and from what I read theirs not many symptoms of PE, before it's too late, please help advise???

Asked: My dog passed away, 5 nights ago from parvo, shows no symptoms?

I had a 5 month old black lab mix, her name was babygurl. She had contracted parvo and by the time she showed any symptoms and I brought her to the vet, She took some blood and did a fecal test. it came back positive. The vet gave the dog antibiotics and IV fluids. She stayed alive for 4 days in the hospital but passed away. The vet says there may have been an underlying reason, but the same vet gave her the shots. She told me it is very rare for a dog to get parvo after having been vaccinated months prior, but it can happen. The vet did everything she could. However, due to all this, i'm litterally in the hole. I wont be paying my rent/lights this month and owe several family members. I've prayed my other dog( unvaccinated) does not contract it but I think its very unlikely considering she 1) isnt vaccinated 2) she is a very small dog, like still a baby( 9 weeks). However it has been 5 days since the DEATH of my baby, I sprayed the yard/ house with bleach. She ahs shown no symptoms, but was constantly with babygurl. The vet is willing to treat the other puppy, but I really cannot afford another $700 after having paid the vet. She told me the best thing to do, if signs present itself to bring her in have her tested and, if i cannot afford treatment, humanely euthanize her. Why hasnt this puppy got sick yet? she is happy playful/east liek a pig/ and drinks water constantly. gums are pink stool is a little watery but it has always been like that( the vet thinks it was because she was taken from her mother too early, but we will address this with her health at risk like it could be she doesnt want to do anything right now). I dont understand, although I am hopeful and happy she is fine at the moment, why she ahs not been afflicted by this? any idea's or opinions? I also have thought maybe she is acarrier for parvo( my dog did not get sick until she was brought in the house.( she was a stray that hung around the house for a while until we took her in.

Asked: I’m tired of giving my dog such frequent baths!?

My dog gets so stinky! Shes just a small maltipoo. I didn't think they got that stinky. But anyways, i have to give her baths almost every week! I'm ok with the occasional bath but once a week?!? My friends say they only have to give their dogs 4 baths or so a YEAR! When we got my dog she already had dry skin, she has dandruff. This frequent washing isn't helping and she hates it. Is there any way to easily freshen her smell?

My Lhasa is almost two years old.And frankly while he can be an angel,in the evenings he's literally the devil incarnate. In the morning he's sooo quite and we'll behaved… He won't bother you at all.He's so quite that one cant even say we have adog in the house.He minds his business.Chases critters in the garden….. We have a fairly large home for a small dog and we haven't restrained him in anyway. Its the evenings,particularly after his dinner when he's unbearable.Like after 8pm. He's demanding,he tore up my mums quilt.And round 9pm he always tries to hump the bed covers. If I try to move him he snarls and bites back. He's not this way in the morning.He's well behaved,mellow and quite affectionate. I play with him in the evenings an all.But its not enough. He doesn't like kongs,peanut butter and rawhide bones are dangerous unsupervised.Ps….. He's not leash trained as he is quite stubborn and he hates the leash.My previous dog was a German Shepard and he was very accomodative. Any ideas regarding his behaviour??Thnx…
