Why is my mom’s Husky so hyper & how can I get her to calm down?
Asked: Why is my mom’s Husky so hyper & how can I get her to calm down?
My mom has an Alaskan Husky & I've noticed over a long period of time she has become extremely hyper. Whenever I go over my mom's house & go outside to play with her, she spazzes out & all hell breaks loose. Now I've kinda got an idea of why she's like that butI need some input. My mom keeps her on a tether & rarely ever let's her off. Neither my brother or my mom walk her or let her run around the yard. The only reason I don't so it is bc I live with my father & only see her once every two weeks for a very short period of time. Also since she stays outside 24/7 my mom sees no new to bathe her. She's not dirty to the point to where she is brown but if you pet her, you can feel the dirt & grime on your hands afterwards. I've tried talking my mom into letting me have her since my mom & brother have no interest in taking proper care of her but she always says no & that she take perfect care of her. Which she doesn't? So how can I get my mom's dog to relax & calm down? And if possible is there some way I can take my mom to court for being neglectful towards the dog? Thanks in advance

Cat keeps getting fleas – ‘pets at home’ are uneducated?
Asked: Cat keeps getting fleas – ‘pets at home’ are uneducated?
My neighbours got a new sofa and their old is outside and now a haven for cats and their fleas for the past 3 weeks.
I treat my cat every 4 weeks with frontline but these ones seem to be immune or something. So I google, (as you do) and found 'Advantage and stronghold' where recommended.
I went to 'Pets at Home' and asked for advice and was directed to one of their people who told me that advantage is just a weak version of frontline and will not work and that frontline is the best. I asked why was advantage 3 dearer then, but he didn't know.
I asked could I look at the package to see the ingredients and he told me that they don't list the active ingredient anymore (at this stage I thought he was obviously a knob) he then told me not to buy and bob martin products either as they burnt his dog and he sued them for 3500. Then he gave me tea tree ointment for a dog and said that it will help my cat, it didn't mention cats on the instructions at all, just mentioned dogs and puppies, so I queried this with him to which he said "Oh it doesn't say dogs or cats on it." BUT IT DOES! IT SAYS DOGS!
So I asked could I read the advantage box anyway to make my own mind up, and turns out it is a different ingredient and I bought it, He told me not to apply it to my cat though for at least 12 weeks as I had frontlined him a week ago. To which I said "Surely you are meant to treat a cat every 4/5 weeks?" to which he replied "oh yeah a cat is 8 weeks and a dog is 12"
I was just glad I had googled enough to make my own mind up otherwise I wouldn't have bought the Advantage.
Now I am treating the house with indorex but there still seems to be random fleas bouncing about this morning. I have hoovered, done boil washes, binned stuff, ironed stuff I normally wouldn't iron and binned things I normally wouldn't bin. Cat gets flea combed but never seem to catch any just get the eggs. I feel like crying.
So when can I apply the advantage and how can I break the cycle? Is my sofa destined for the bin?
PS – my neighbours are apparently waiting on someone collecting the sofa!

Should i talk to spca myself?
Asked: Should i talk to spca myself?
My neighbour across the street came over shortly after my neighbour next door's dogs were barking. He said for me to get my dogs to stop barking, but they had been quiet all day.
Yes they do bark, but never at night. they are never outside when i am not home, and i call them off when they do. Its typically at passerbys.
Across the street neighbour didnt realize it was my neighbour next doors dogs barking for ten minutes straight. He said he will do something to them (my dogs) if they dont stop.
Should i call the spca and note the situation, myself? I was upset by his threat. He came over specifically to talk to me not my husband and he kept pushing the issue. I came back to my husband and was on the verge of tears. Not because i am overly emotional but because he threatened my dogs and that he wouldn't stop. All you have to say is keep your dogs down and not keep going and going. I get the irony but my dogs bark if they bark for only a minute and the ones next door bark for ten minutes straight.

Humane dog decisions? have a heart please?
Asked: Humane dog decisions? have a heart please?
This might be a while, but it could be a life-or-death situation question.
ok, about a week ago, there was this storm, during the night, a big one too.
the next morning i had to get to summer school (to get ahead, im not a slacker) and i was waiting in the car for my Mom to drive me.
the car was facing the open garage, as my mom was fixing something on the shelves, so her back was to the opening.
i saw a big white animal, about 2 foot 5 at the shoulder. i found out it was a husky just walking into our garage. it had shorter hair, probs for the summer, it had brown hair markings around her head, but the rest was white. her arms were muddy all the way to just past her elbows.i told my mom there was a dog behind her (LOL STORY) ANYways, so she told me to get it out incase it was gonna step on something (we had reno supplies all over the ground) but no to touch it incase it was a stray. by the time i got to the garage, it had already went closer to my mom, and was walking back towards me. it wasnt threatening at all, and i know my dog physcology, so dnt call me dumb. i know the signs of a hungry dog, especially a wolf decendant. i said "Mom, i know this dog" cuz i did…
around the corner of my street is a house that uts their dog out on the lawn when its nice out, tied with a leash so it doesnt get away. its "room" is the garage so that itdoesnt shed too much in the house. the markings and everything were the same, except its bulk.
i approached it calmy, but i shouldnt have come right at it, looking back now. i out my hand low for it to sniff, and it was very friendly, but very tired and weak. it was thin, like a greyhound by its waist.
i found a muddy chain collar bu its neck, and i told my Mom id be right back. i walked her home, maybe 10 houses away. the whole time she was very listfull, weak, tired. but she was absolutly beautiful, and it looked like she was asking for help. i came to the house, and my mom pulled her car up beside the house so she could help me if necessary. i decided to cut across the lawn with the dog, but she stood their, so i walked along the sidewalk instead. we got about hlfway up the driveway, and then she refsed to move. i didnt wanna make a husky mad, so i just knelt down, stroked her, talked to her soothingly, and pet her. i could feel the upper bones of her spine and her ribs. i knew this dog wasnt being taken care ofproperly immediately. i asked my mom for help, so she walked up to the door instead. when the owner answered "like an asian mom, but one that was a typical canadian mom (modern and stuff) so she said "oh my gosh (calls behind her) ____(husband) shes back!" then she looked back ut and she said" oh she got away again. it was probably the storm. and they took her in, but we talked for a few minutes, about how dirty my hands were (mud and hair evrywhere) and thanks and stuff.
we did something awesome that day, but me and my Mom knew smething was wrong. my mom had thought she was a stray cuz she was so thin. if the storm was last night and she came to us in the morning, she must have spent the whole night outside, hence the muddy legs. the owner hadnt really showed genuine love, or even called the animals name. ive seen the poeple at this house, and hey seem normal, playing abll outside and haveing fireworks and stuff. its a dad, mom, 11 year old boy and a 9 year old boy, thats whatr they look like.
me and my mom debated over such things, and decided next time it happened, we're calling the SPCA, like child servicies for people. in those moments, i developed a strong love for this dog (im an aspiring vet) and have brought up the idea a few times to keep it (i also have a shih tzu, friendly little guy, and these dogs have met peacefully before).
*SIGH*
sorry this is so long, but its veryt important to me.
so ive seen her on the lawn a couple times since then, cleaned up and sleeping on the lawn. but u can notice her sinking wasteline. its so sad, and i really wanna help her.
there was just a major storm, so im gonna go for a ride to see if she got loose again.
any help is appreciated, (btw i dunno if its an issue that our houses are so close, although wev never met before. )

Is my dad at fault? Please read.?
Cat Asked: Is my dad at fault? Please read.?
Okay so my name is Cat, I'm 20 years old, and my dad is nearing 65 years old. My dad and mom rescued Daisy, a 4 month old miniature schnauzer and poodle mix from a local SPCA about 10 years ago. 3 years later, (7 years ago) my mom was diagnosed with a tumor in her brain. The doctors said they could possibly save her with a surgery so my dad paid for it. She died 15 minutes into the surgery. My dad fell into a depression so my grandma was at my house a lot, taking care of the food and cleaning and everything else. Daisy was the only one my dad would talk to, she helped him through the depression, along with therapy, and in 7 months, he was recovered.
Daisy was great with other dogs, she always made friends at the park / dog park and was great with people. She was an indoor dog, and my dad thought of her like a daughter. Two days ago, I was visiting him and brought along my three Great Pyrenees. My dad let Daisy out to use the bathroom. He didn't pay too much mind to Daisy when she was was curiously sniffing at the neighbor's (who had moved in that day) dog, a Dogo Argentino, because he thought she was just making a new buddy. But then the dog went under the fence (since it's loose from previous dogs chewing through it) and into my dad's yard. My dad panicked and yelled Daisy's name out, and when Daisy tried to run back to my dad, the dog got her. He attacked her, sinking his teeth into her back and running around with her, shaking her like a chew toy. My dad called me out and was crying, and I ran to the neighbors to tell them. They weren't home. When I went back outside, my dad had grabbed the tea kettle that had boiled water and poured the boiling water onto the dog. The dog didn't let go of Daisy. My elderly father tried to pry the dog's jaw opened, which was a very dangerous thing to do, but when that failed, he started to hit the dog with some random pipe laying around. The dog STILL did not let her go until my dad put the pipe under the dogs chin and started to choke it. The dog finally let Daisy go and my dad grabbed her and we rushed her into the vet, since it was the closest to us. The vet was at lunch though, so they told us there was nothing they could do. We tried driving to the animal emergency hospital, but she died on the way.
My dad has gone into a depression, Daisy was his last bit of my mom he had and she's gone. But today, the owners of the dogo argentino that attacked our dog, banged at our dog demanding we pay for the dog's medical bills. He said it wasn't his fault that the dog killed ours, because the dog was just protecting his home, which he was bred and trained to do.
Should we just pay? We want to go to court but the man is saying that it'll just be more bad on us, and refuses to go.
any advice is appreciated!!
