Which dog is right for me ?
Asked: Which dog is right for me ?
I have a choice of these 4 dogs :
Pug (4 months old)
Puggle ( 6 months old)
Labrador (11 weeks old)
Golden retriever (11 weeks old)
Lemme tell you my situation then you guys may tell me which dog would be best suited for me:
-I'm 17
-I don't work
-I am currently on summer vacation so I stay home all day
-once school starts, I am out of the house from 7 am until 2 pm and that's it , however my mom remains at home as she does not work
-the dog would have to live in the garage , which is pretty big and has 2 fans
-I have a dog bed, and comfy blankets on the garage floor
- I don't have any kids under 13 in the house
-I have a car which would make it easy for me to take the guy to a park or beach or vet for any problems
So which dog can live in a big , cool garage with partly no owner for 7 hours of a day but then get plenty of play and excercise once I return from school ?

I dont like little dogs so I would choose Labrador or golden retriever
I have a follow-up question for you.Are you going to college away from home?If so, then you'd better find out what kind of dog (if any) your mom wants because it will become her dog.It's not fair to get an animal like that , then leave it.Perhaps you should do you first, then get a dog when you've settled into your life, after college?

I am also 17 and I just rescued a lab mix puppy this summer. She is 4 months old and an amazing dog. Labs are so nice and I love them! I think either a labrador or a golden retriever would be your best bet just because they are both extremely smart. But any dog is what you make of it, so good luck!.. also rescue dogs are always amazing, so maybe try going to your local animal shelter!
shelters have all these dogs, keep one from being gassed
That's virtually going to be an outdoor dog then?One that lacks a lot of human interaction as it is shut away from the house?Any puppy will hate that.
I can tell you our farm dogs that were kept in a shed needed to be in pairs to stop them feeling bored.
Out of your list the older Puggle will probably tolerate it best.
Golden Retriever definitely.They are the sweetest dogs, perfect temper, and love to be around humans.Not as hyper as labs, and not as small or little dog yappy as pugs.Also, they are the 4th smartest dog, and eager to learn and please their owner.
